Greetings, In case you haven’t heard, we’ve had a fairly catastrophic fire here in our valley, aka 25 Mile Creek, a drainage that feeds Lake Chelan. The good news for us is that we were able to save our house and my workshop and much of the farm seems to be alright. We lost our cold storage/farm &market storage units.

What was our cold storage & farm/market supply buildings

vI’m trying to get fruit off the trees and Liz is trying to get some harvesting done in the tomatoes and green beans and I will attempt to make it to the market this weekend (the fruit needs to get harvested and dealt with, or it’ll be a bigger mess..) But I’m not sure if I can pull it off at this point. Most of our market and packing supplies went up with our building (scale, boxes etc.) so it’s a scramble to figure it all out.

The almost harvested grapes and bear fencing…

The fire started Sunday afternoon, neighbors heard gunshots up valley which sounded like someone target practicing, and about a half hour later a smoke plume came up. Important to note that is not the official cause at this point, but there was no lightning..

But again, the good news is we still have our home, some good friends and neighbors lost theirs, total loss. The valley burnt very hard, we still don’t haven’t seen the extent of it due to smoke and how busy we are putting out hotspots and trying to manage it. Our phone(landlines) and internet are out, which makes it difficult to give or get info. But we are here and intact!

Peaches waiting..

I hope to see you all soon. Thank you!
